Welcome to My Portfolio Page
As you scroll down the page, you'll see different sections of my most recent work including logo designs, computer illustrations, art photography, paintings, infographics, photojournalism series, and news coverage.
I have a master's degree in fine art from San Diego State University and spent 12 years as a freelance illustrator in Portland, Oregon before moving to Colorado in 2013 to return to school. I've had a variety of clients, and my illustrations have been published in "The Warbler" a monthly membership newsletter for the Audubon Society of Portland with a circulation of 10,000 households, botanical illustrations on signage for the Hoyt Arboretum, wildlife and bird illustrations in the book "Wild In the City: Guide to Portland's Natural Areas," as well as private commissions.

Fine Art Photography
I love photography. I started with shooting film and processing my rolls and printing images myself. I moved to digital photography five years ago, but I also challenge myself to capture images with my cell phone everywhere I go. Today's proccessing software allows you to change the photo with an eye for color and composition that only requires imagination. Platforms like Instagram have also allowed artists to share their work to new audiences beyond the four walls of the art gallery.
Long & Short Form Photojournalism Series
Photography is one of my favorite forms of visual communication. I've been challenged to move from art photography into photojournalism capturing the news moment. My photojournalism portfolio has short and long form series and freelance work. I'm always challenging myself to improve. Click on the blue title to see the series.

County Road 56Many Americans who live in cities and their suburbs may still believe that small family farms are thriving, especially if they live in an area where they see some type of agriculture near major interstates or they attend the local farmer's market. However, many farms have sold off parcels to developers to make ends meet in the short term, further shrinking the land for food production. Place Series.

NEWS COVERAGE
I used my weekly blog, "The Livestock Lounge,"on Colorado State University's online newspaper as a by-line to cover animal and equine science events, livestock industry partners, students, as well as program policies related to disease outbreaks. This also led to freelance work including a piece published in the "Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse" magazine. Click on the blue title to view the the pieces.
WritingI covered animal and equine science stories, events, and activities for two years as a blogger on the digital version of "The Rocky Mountain Collegian" at Colorado State University. I had a very flexible editor and was able to use my blog as a by-line and challenge myself to explore different types of media coverage.
|
VideoIn the fall of 2014 we had a guest speaker from a Denver television in my writing and online journalism course who did his remote coverage completely on his iPhone. I challenged myself to create video news coverage from animal and equine science events on my iPhone to post on my blog on "The Rocky Mountain Collegian."

MultimediaThese multimedia reporting packages on animal and equine science stories at Colorado State University first appeared on the "Rocky Mountain Collegian" online from the fall of 2014 through the spring of 2015. The majority have a complete audio reporting package, but a few also included a brief story, and/or photo or photo essay, which broadened my skills and the type of online coverage I could give my 800 weekly Livestock Lounge blog readers.
